Melbourne Water : rivers and drainage

Melbourne Water looks after rivers and creeks in the Port Phillip and Westernport region. We work with local councils to ensure rivers and creeks in their areas are clean and healthy. We also look after the region's drainage systems, which provide flood protection.

Unlike sewage, stormwater isn't treated before it enters our rivers and creeks. That means, everything that goes down the drain when it rains flows directly into our creeks, rivers and bays.
