Edstream : Grants for Young Watercarers
Grants for Young Watercarers
In 2006, 21 schools across Melbourne received Melbourne Water funding for projects to help protect and improve local rivers and creeks.
Grants of up to $2000 per school was made available through the Melbourne Water Young Watercare Grants program, a partnership with Landcare Australia's Mitre 10 Junior Landcare.
Schools see the program as a great way to encourage students to value their local waterways and help protect the environment.
Since the commencement of the program in 2003, more than 90 schools have shared in $150,000 in grants for a range of stormwater and river health projects, water quality monitoring and whole school community awareness programs.
